Police officer seen tripping, shoving students at UIL state soccer tournament is placed on paid leave
The police officer who tripped and pushed students as they tried to run on to the field to celebrate Saturday at the UIL state soccer tournament has been placed on paid administrative leave, according to the Austin American-Statesman.

Bermudez was chosen as an outstanding police officer for the Georgetown Police Department last year, a police department spokesman said. He said Bermudez has been with the department since 2005 as a school resource officer at Georgetown High School, where the soccer game was held Saturday.
