Former Skyline basketball coach sues Dallas ISD, says principal meddled with program

Former Skyline basketball coach Stanford Hill sued Dallas ISD in Dallas County court Wednesday morning, according to a report from courthousenews.com.

Hill said in September that he was reassigned because he refused to play principal Harold Wright's son.

From the Courthouse News Service report:

"Mr. Wright consistently pressured Coach Hill to play Wright's son over more deserving players," the complaint states. "As a consequence of Coach Hill's refusal to conspire with Wright to favor Wright's son at the expense of other players, Coach Hill was relieved of his coaching responsibilities and was transferred to a school that does not have a basketball program."

Hill claims he was retaliated against for refusing to participate in a crime.

He says that under state law, educators cannot "use coercive means" to influence other educators.

Hill took over at Skyline in 2009 after 12 seasons at Roosevelt. He led Roosevelt to the 2006 Class 3A state championship. He said in September that his declining record was the reason given for his reassignment.
