Baseball/softball replay: Big rally lifts Keller over SL Carroll in softball
GAME OF THE DAY
Katie Bob Laws hit a go-ahead RBI single as part of a four-run top of the seventh inning as the state-ranked Keller softball team rallied to beat Southlake Carroll, 9-7, on Tuesday.
Keller (15-3, 5-0 District 4-5A), ranked 11th in the state in 5A, trailed 5-0 after three innings and 7-5 going to the seventh. Grace Srichantra and Texas A&M pledge Kaitlyn Alderink hit RBI singles in the seventh to tie it before Laws’ single with one out gave Keller the lead.
Laws was 2-for-4 with a home run and three RBIs, and Kaylee Rogers earned the win by allowing two runs (one earned) in 42/3 innings of relief. Virginia signee Lauren Heintzelman was 3-for-4 and scored four runs for Carroll (10-10, 1-4), and Gretchen Morgan was 3-for-4 with four RBIs.
Jesuit wins thriller
Kyle Muller had a one-out RBI double in the bottom of the 10th inning for Jesuit’s only hit of the game as it beat W.T. White, 1-0, in baseball. The hit scored Grant Reuben, who was hit by a pitch leading off the 10th.
Chris Muller pitched nine innings, allowed six hits and struck out 11 for Jesuit. Harrison Folk pitched the 10th and struck out three. Cason Sherrod pitched the first nine innings for W.T. White and didn’t allow a hit and struck out 17.
Shutout for Prosper
Dean Smith and Dylan Bowen combined on a two-hitter as the Prosper baseball team beat Frisco Wakeland, 1-0. Andrew Davis pitched a two-hitter and struck out 10 for Wakeland.
Dom Yearego drove in the only run with a fourth-inning sacrifice fly for Prosper (14-5-1, 3-0 District 9-4A).
Riley Wayland was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded to give the Plano West baseball team a 4-3 win over Allen. ... Oklahoma State signee Garrett McCain tripled twice, doubled and was the winning pitcher as the Wylie East baseball team beat Greenville, 18-0. ... Katelyn Cooper pitched a five-inning no-hitter as Flower Mound Marcus beat Denton Ryan, 14-0, in softball. ... The Carrollton Creekview softball team scored nine runs in the second inning in a 12-7 win vs. Mesquite Poteet.
BJ Myers, Flower Mound: The West Virginia signee allowed one hit and one walk while striking out 10 in a 1-0 win against Hebron. TCU signee Connor Wanhanen was 2-for-3 and scored the only run for Flower Mound (15-4, 3-0 District 5-5A).
Jensen Elliott, Coppell: Pitched a three-hit shutout and struck out seven in a 7-0 win over Flower Mound Marcus, the state’s seventh-ranked 5A team. Myles Paschall scored two runs for Coppell (13-5-1, 2-1 District 5-5A), and Cal Hernandez had two RBIs.
Ben Leeper, Southlake Carroll: The Stanford pledge pitched a two-hitter and allowed two unearned runs as the state’s No. 1-ranked 5A team beat Richland, 5-2. Arkansas-Little Rock signee Joe Heineman was 3-for-3 with an RBI for Carroll (17-1, 3-0 in 4-5A).
Tyler Ivey, Rockwall-Heath: The Texas A&M pledge threw a two-hit shutout and struck out 10 as Rockwall-Heath (15-5, 3-0 in 12-5A) beat Longview, 3-0.
Allie Smith, Flower Mound: Hit a walk-off home run in the bottom of the eighth to give Flower Mound a 2-1 win over defending 5A state champion Lewisville. Texas Tech pledge Annelise Oswalt pitched a complete game for Flower Mound (16-5-1, 1-0 District 5-5A), the state’s 18th-ranked 5A team, and Smith was 2-for-4 with two RBIs. LSU pledge Maribeth Gorsuch struck out 11 for 15th-ranked Lewisville (16-6, 0-1).
Allie Turner, Kennedale: Struck out all nine hitters in a three-inning perfect game as the state’s fifth-ranked 3A team beat Fort Worth Diamond Hill-Jarvis, 21-0.
Brianna Sims, Rowlett: Pitched a no-hitter and homered in a 15-0 victory against Garland Naaman Forest.
Erin Riding, McKinney Boyd: The Iowa pledge pitched five shutout innings and struck out nine as Boyd (14-3-2, 3-0 District 10-5A) beat Allen, 6-0.
2: Home runs hit by Allison Strittmatter for the Pilot Point softball team as the defending Class 2A state champion beat Gunter, 15-0.
2: Home runs hit by Texas baseball signee Noah Lee for Cedar Hill in a 14-1 win over Grand Prairie.
10: Strikeouts for Jonathan Heasley in a five-inning no-hitter as the Plano Prestonwood baseball team beat Bishop Dunne, 16-0.
