Former Prestonwood Christian star Julius Randle named Freshman All-American
The U.S. Basketball Writers Association's Freshman All-America Team includes Kentucky forward Julius Randle, the former star at Prestonwood Christian. Randle is averaging 15 points and 10.5 rebounds this season for Kentucky, which is seeded eighth in the NCAA Tournament and will take on Kansas State on Friday.
As a senior at Prestonwood, Randle missed most of his senior season because of a fractured foot suffered in the second game. He returned for the final five games of the season and led Prestonwood to a second consecutive TAPPS 5A state title. He scored 40 points in the semifinal and 34 in the state final.
Randle scored 11 points and had 11 rebounds in last year's McDonald's All-America game.
