Boys basketball player of the week (2/10): Adamson’s Xavier Good
What he did: One of the area’s most prolific — and unheralded — scorers, Good put up back-to-back 28-point performances last week against Pinkston and Seagoville, keeping Adamson’s playoff chances alive. This came a week after scoring 39 in a win over North Dallas. Adamson (6-7 in 11-4A) is a game out of playoff contention, remarkable considering it finished last year 2-12 in district.
Who is he? A 5-11 senior guard
The stats: Good is averaging 22 points, five assists and four rebounds.
He said it: “I just go out there trying to win. Coach just said let the game come to me — but to shoot the ball, too.”
Coach said it: “He’s just been taking his time a little more, but he’s still putting it in the hole. He’s that type of scorer.” — Melvin Peterson
Did you know? Good — who has offers from Cameron University and Wayland Baptist — credited teammate Chris Ortiz, one of the area’s leaders in assists. Adamson’s playoff chances are still pretty slim. Not only does it need to beat Carter on Wednesday, Adamson — which hasn’t made the playoffs since 1999 — will also need a Seagoville loss to Molina.
