Local football players from Coppell, Lovejoy, Mesquite, Sachse will play in International Bowl
Four Dallas-area football players are on the roster for the U.S. Under-19 football team that will take on Canada on Friday in the International Bowl.
The game will be at 7:30 p.m. Friday at UT-Arlington's Maverick Stadium. You can get more details, including full rosters, at internationalbowl.com.
Local players are:
Justice "Chochy" Luce, WR, Lovejoy The 6-2, 200-pound all-district receiver, who is orally committed to Texas A&M-Commerce, caught 57 passes last season and averaged 23.3 yards per catch. When Lovejoy's injuries mounted, he also played some at quarterback. He threw a TD pass and rushed for nine scores.
Charles Grant, DB, Mesquite Grant (5-11, 180), an all-district safety who is orally committed to Arkansas State, is rated as the No. 87 recruit in SportsDay's area recruit rankings for the Class of 2014.
Blake Mahon, TE, Coppell Mahon (6-6, 227), an all-district tight end who is orally committed to Baylor, was a powerful blocker for Coppell's physical rushing game and also caught 16 passes for 177 yards and two touchdowns. He is No. 68 in the area recruit rankings.
James Mayden, WR, Sachse Mayden (6-2, 177), a receiver who is orally committed to Rice, was named all-district as a utility player for Sachse. He caught 24 passes for 347 yards and two touchdowns.
