Audio recordings: Deion Sanders reportedly lashes out at D.L. Wallace during Prime Prep meeting
Even though Deion Sanders was fired — for the second time — from Prime Prep Academy in December, tales of his dealings at the Dallas charter school continue to surface.
In two audio clips published Thursday by the Dallas Observer, Sanders is heard berating D.L. Wallace, whom he founded Prime Prep with, and even threatening the school’s former executive director.
The Observer writes that the audio excerpts center on Sanders' desire for a bigger role and salary at the school.
Later, Sanders chastises Wallace for treating the venture like a business, as opposed to just doing it for the kids.
“I feel like throwing this chair at you and breaking your damn neck right now,” Sanders says in one of the clips, which is believed to be from summer 2013 by the Observer, “and I don't even use profanity, but I'm going to let it ride, because I'm pissed off because I love kids.”
Sanders declined comment to the Observer, but he told WFAA on Thursday he “was merely fighting for my kids and I was sick of what he was paying himself and doing to my kids.”
He added to WFAA: “What I'm guilty of is trusting a guy who I turned that school over to, and he wound up lying, cheating, and stealing.”
Prime Prep is also under investigation by the Texas Education Agency for alleged failure to fingerprint and conduct background checks on 17 employees, including Sanders himself.
Wallace resigned from Prime Prep in November "to give more of myself to my family and the DFW community in other ways."
