Former Flower Mound Marcus soccer star Zach Barnes selected in third round of MLS Superdraft
Former Flower Mound Marcus soccer star Zach Barnes was selected today in the third round of the MLS Superdraft. Barnes, part of the Marcus teams that won 5A state titles in 2008 and 2009, played college soccer at SMU and Creighton.
"I was fortunate to be around Zach at a very early stage in his development," Marcus coach John Gall said on the team's website. From day one he was a winner and I knew he was going to make it. He is a determined young man who is a very consistent performer. Zach is the type of player that always trained and played to his maximum. I will never forget him telling me in my office during his junior year that he was going to do whatever he needed to do to make it, and he certainly walked the walk. I am so happy for him and his family and wish him all the very best as a professional. It's another proud day for Marcus FC."
