Forty area basketball standouts named McDonald's All-American nominees
The nominees for McDonald's All-American were announced Tuesday, and 11 Dallas-area boys and 29 girls were among the honorees.
The All-American game will be held April 2 in Chicago. By then the list of nominees, all seniors, will be narrowed down to 24 boys and 24 girls.
Prime Prep guard Emmanuel Mudiay and Euless Trinity center Myles Turner - both ranked in the top 10 of Rivals' 2014 class - were among the boys nominees. Mudiay signed with SMU in November, and Turner has yet to commit.
Mansfield Timberview had five total players among the nominees, including four girls: JaLea Bennett (Arizona signee), Terriell Bradley (Kansas), Aurmani DeGar (SMU) and Dayo Olabode (Texas Tech).
Duncanville guards Ariel Atkins and Tasia Foman were among the girls nominees. Both Texas signees, Atkins and Foman have been varsity players throughout Duncanville's active 91-game winning streak.
Last year the area sent three boys to the All-American game: DeSoto's Matt Jones, Kimball's Keith Frazier and Plano Prestonwood's Julius Randle.
