Rangers acquire former Allen and Baylor pitcher Shawn Tolleson
Former Allen pitcher Shawn Tolleson is now part of the Texas Rangers organization. The Rangers received Tolleson from the Dodgers on a waiver claim.
From this blog post:
Tolleson, 25, has appeared for the Dodgers in each of the last two seasons, going a combined 3-1 with a 4.30 ERA (18 ER/37.2 IP) in 41 relief appearances. He had just 6 total appearances in 2013 due to lower back surgery and a left hip injury. Tolleson had a 23-10 record at Allen, but he missed most of his senior season because he needed elblow surgery. Tolleson, a right-hander who in the spring of 2006 was ranked as the nation's No. 18 senior by Baseball America, felt something pop in his pitching elbow when he threw a slider in a game.
It turned out he needed Tommy John surgery to repair an acute tear of the ulnar collateral ligament. After recovering, Tolleson pitched for Baylor.
