Ineligible Plano West transfer, 6-9 center Tyler Davis to have appeal heard by UIL State Executive Committee Wednesday morning

Plano West transfer Tyler Davis, a 5-star junior center who had his request for eligibility voted down by the 10-5A District Executive Committee after moving from Frisco Liberty, will have his appeal heard by the UIL's State Executive Committee on Wednesday morning in Austin.

Davis (6-9, 270) was ruled ineligible by a 1-4 vote by the 10-5A DEC on Oct. 29. Testimony and questions during the meeting focused on Davis' AAU experience with several of the new and existing players on Plano West roster - with four of his future teammates all on the same Texas Titans team.

Liberty coach Marcus Eckert also testified that Davis' AAU coach, Scott Pospichal, had called and asked Eckert to "reconsider" disputing the transfer.

If the ruling is overturned, Davis can rejoin Plano West - the state's No. 1-ranked Class 5A team, which fell to 1-1 on Friday with a loss to Arlington Martin. If not, he'll be forced to play as a sub-varsity player this season.
