Texas state representatives have friendly wager over Allen-Lake Highlands playoff game
I got news this week about a friendly wager between two Texas state representatives regarding this week's Allen vs. Lake Highlands football game.
Jason Villalba issued the challenge, according to the news release, and it's a pretty bold one (or one that comes from someone who doesn't follow high school football closely). Villalba's district includes Lake Highlands, so he challenged Leach, whose district includes Allen, to a wager in which the loser would buy coffee and donuts for police officers and firefighters in the winning team's district.
This is obviously not a toss-up game. Lake Highlands is 5-5 this season and Allen is 10-0 and ranked No. 1 in the state. But whatever …
Here are the details from the news release:
This week Representative Jason Villalba challenged Representative Jeff Leach to a friendly wager over this weekend's 5A Division I Playoff game pitting the Lake Highlands Wildcats against the Allen Eagles. Rep. Leach's district includes the undefeated Allen Eagles and Rep. Villalba's district includes the fightin' Lake Highlands Wildcats. Before the game, Reps. Villalba and Leach will share the honor of tossing the game coin to determine which will be the kicking and receiving team.
Both teams have advanced to the first round of the Division I Region II playoffs. The stakes are now even higher for these teams as the Representative for the team that does not advance in the playoffs will pay for and deliver (wearing the winning team's colors), coffee and donuts for the Police Officers and Fire Fighters in the winner's district's primary police and fire region.
