Fight at Whataburger following rivalry game in Plano probably didn't include varsity football players
The fight that erupted at a Whataburger in Plano on Friday night, and included students from Plano and Plano West high schools, was a big topic on social media over the weekend. WFAA Channel 8 reports that two people were arrested after the fight, which broke out after Plano's victory over Plano West. WFAA also some video of the fight.
It was a pretty chaotic scene, obviously, and it came during the heat of emotions after a rivalry football game. But varsity football players were probably not involved.
Plano West coach Mike Hughes said this evening that he and his players were on the bus riding back to Plano West when they passed by the Whataburger, which is near the corner of Coit Road and Spring Creek Parkway. That's about two miles west of John Clark Stadium, where the game was played.
The fight had already occurred when they passed by.
"We saw like 10 police cars there," Hughes said. "When we got back to the locker room, I told the players, 'Don't go to Whataburger.' "
According to the WFAA story, Plano ISD will not be investigating the fight because it did not occur at a school district facility.
