How a four-way tie in 12-5A would be broken: Good news for Mesquite schools, tough break for Rockwall
The District 12-5A playoff situation is quite muddied, with four teams potentially finishing in a 3-3 tie for second place.
So what happens if Mesquite, North Mesquite, Mesquite Horn and Rockwall end up tied at 3-3?
Here's some clarity offered by Rockwall coach Rodney Webb. According to the 12-5A tiebreaker rules, a four-way tiebreaker would be determined by head-to-head. So if the four teams tie at 3-3, then North Mesquite, Mesquite, and Mesquite Horn would join Longview in the playoffs.
North Mesquite and Mesquite would each be 2-1 among the tied schools, so they would get in. Horn beat Rockwall head-to-head, so it would be the fourth team in.
