Richardson Berkner player carted off in ambulance during shutout of Sunset
DALLAS- Richardson Berkner scored early and often as they cruised past Dallas Sunset, 40-0, at Sprague Stadium to pick up their first district win of the season.
Richardson Berkner (2-4, 1-2) took just two plays to open up a 7-0 lead over Sunset whene CaDarius Edwards reeled off a 37 yard run then followed it up with a 5-yard scoring run. Richardson Berkner put the game away for good on their next possession when Calvin Jones delivered a 55-yard scoring strike to Jaylon Terrell.
Berkner place kicker Tanner Lange had a busy night as he booted four field goals. Sunset (0-6, 0-3) was led by Lukas Mendoza who finished the game with 46 yards rushing.
A scary moment occurred late in the second quarter when Richardson Berkner’s Darrius Thomas was injured on a kickoff. Thomas laid motionless for nearly 20 minutes as trainers provided medical attention. Thomas was carted off by ambulance with an apparent head injury and appeared to have movement in his extremities according to school officials.
