Plano East QB Miles Thompson will start against Allen Friday, back from 'minor injury'
In its 35-21 loss to Venice (Fla.) two weeks ago, Plano East's starting quarterback Miles Thompson stood in street clothes on the sidelines. Coach Randy Jackson declined to comment on Thompson's health status postgame.
Today, Jackson told me without being location specific that Thompson suffered from a "minor injury," and will be inserted back into his starting role on Friday night when East (4-1) takes on Allen (5-0) at Eagle Stadium.
"Miles probably could have played against Venice, but it was kind of a game-time decision," Jackson said. "Trainers told me it would be wise for him not to play. With it being non-district, we felt like Keith (Long) was a capable quarterback."
Jackson said Thompson is back at full-strength. The sophomore quarterback has been impressive through four starts: 72-98, 957 yards, 9 TDs, 2 INTs.
Allen and East are fresh off their bye week for their 10-5A district opener.
