Lake Dallas (4-1, 1-1) suffered its first loss of the season Friday night to Trophy Club Byron Nelson (4-1, 1-1), and with it came more bad news for coach Michael Young.
Lake Dallas senior wide receiver Josh Jackson, a two-star Iowa commit according to Rivals, suffered a minor right foot fracture while hauling in a 24-yard pass in the first quarter. Young said Jackson will be out for three-to-six weeks.
"(Jackson) tried to come back and catch the ball and both feet landed on the ground," Young said. "The defender came and hit him in the lower part of his leg. It really wasn't a sprain or a landing, it was more just getting hit in the ankle area."
After being inspected by team athletic trainers, Jackson went to the hospital to be x-rayed. Young said he and Jackson were able to view the results that same night at the fieldhouse with a doctor present.
"It was pretty good news, because they were worried it could have been a lot worse and required surgery," Young said. "So he was in pretty good spirits when they told him it could be just a few weeks. We'll have to see if it heals fairly quickly."
Jackson has a team-leading 24 receptions for 485 yards and 9 TDs this season.
"He could be back by our last couple games of the year, we hope," Young said.
