Mansfield Timberview point guard Alex Robinson orally commits to Texas AM
Mansfield Timberview point guard Alex Robinson, one of the most sought-after seniors in the nation, has pledged to Texas A&M. Robinson (6-1, 170) chose the Aggies over offers from Miami, Florida State, SMU, Vanderbilt and others.
Said Robinson on Twitter:
@ARob3_: First of all I want to give God all the Glory I prayed on this for awhile now. I wouldn't be here without him. #Aggies
Robinson - a four-star recruit for Scout.com and the No. 58 prospect in the nation, according to Rivals.com - took an official visit to College Station last weekend. He told Rivals' Eric Bossi (subscription) that his relationship with Aggies' coach Billy Kennedy and his fit with Texas A&M's offense were two key factors.
"Everybody talks about relationshps with coaches and that's great and when they are reruiting somebody they have great relationships," Robinson said. "I have a great relationship with coach Kennedy. But when I started looking at factual things they backed it up. They are one of the top pick and roll programs for the SEC and they are losing their starting point guard."
Oral commitments are non-binding. The first day that a recruit from the Class of 2014 can sign with a basketball program is at the start of the early signing period, Nov. 13.
