Former Prosper star QB and Texas Tech true freshman Davis Webb thrills with winning TD pass
I'm sure most people have heard about it by now, but for the high school football fans who don't know the details of Texas Tech's 20-10 victory over TCU on Thursday …
One of the heroes for Texas Tech was quarterback Davis Webb, a true freshman who starred at Prosper. It's not often that a true freshman plays quarterback for an FBS school, but Tech has two of them playing right now: Baker Mayfield (Lake Travis) and Webb.
Michael Brewer was expected to be the starter this season, but a back injury put Mayfield and Webb in the spotlight. Mayfield was the starter in the first two games, but a leg injury sidelined him in the fourth quarter Thursday.
Webb came into the game and threw a 19-yard touchdown pass to Bradley Marquez that broke a tie with 3:48 remaining. A pretty exciting moment for Webb, although we don't get to hear about it from him. Tech coach Kliff Kingsbury, who doesn't look much older than a freshman himself, doesn't allow freshman to talk to the media.
But he did post this on Twitter:
#WreckedTCU student section was LIVE!!! Great atmosphere..and howbt that GREAT tech defense playing lights out. #TYFR
