After two weeks of the season, you can't do any worse than 0-2. But there are some pretty good teams that are sitting on that oh-fer line this week. Here are some of the best 0-2 teams in 5A in the Dallas area:
McKinney Boyd Tough scheduling doesn't make this much of a surprise. The Broncos lost to Mesquite Horn and Coppell. This week, Boyd takes on Garland, another 0-2 team that is far from hopeless.
Colleyville Heritage Heritage's loss to Duncanville in the first week was kind of shocking, but only in the sense that Duncanville scored 70 points. Duncanville followed that up with another scoring spree against Abilene. Heritage's other loss is to defending 4A Division I champ Denton Guyer. This week, Heritage is at Flower Mound.
Lake Highlands Lake Highlands lost to Mesquite by two points and to Plano West by a lot more last week. But Plano West blocked a punt for a TD and returned a fumble for a TD. This week, Lake Highlands plays host to Rowlett.
Garland Garland lost to Plano East and Mesquite Horn, which are each 0-2. The Owls were put in a tough spot before the opener when starting QB V.J. Gates was lost to a knee injury. But Garland could still be a contender in 11-5A (although Sachse's looking tough). Garland plays McKinney Boyd this week.
In 4A, Lancaster and West Mesquite would be at the top of the list.
