Baseball: Wylie East's Garrett McCain commits to Oklahoma State; Arlington Martin's Turner Larkins commits to Texas AM

Here are two local baseball oral commitments from freelance writer David McNabb:

Wylie East senior left-handed pitcher Garrett McCain committed to Oklahoma State, andĀ Arlington Martin senior right-handed pitcher Turner Larkins committed to Texas A&M.

McCain led Wylie East to the playoffs last season, hitting .407 and striking out 78 in 53 innings with a 1.19 ERA. In football, the 6-1, 180-pound McCain returns for his third year as Wylie East's starting quarterback after passing for 3,285 yards and 45 touchdowns to lead the team to the third round of the playoffs.

Larkins has led Martin to back-to-back appearances at the UIL Class 5A state tournament. The 6-3 Larkins, who was 12-1 last season, also considered Rice, Stanford and Oklahoma State. A&M also picked up a commitment this summer from highly rated Weatherford junior right-handed pitcher Beau Burrows.
