Sachse, loaded with offense and experience, could win District 11-5A

Sachse has made the playoffs the last two seasons, but there's one big thing that the Mustangs have never done:

Beat Garland.

Garland, which was undefeated in District 11-5A last season, will be a solid team again this year. But from Sachse's perspective, this is the year to get a win over the Owls and perhaps win the district title.

Sachse has 15 starters back from a team that finished 8-3. It returns most of the key pieces of an offense that scored 50 or more points in four games last season and averaged 456 yards per game.

The offense starts with senior QB Kent Myers, who last year threw for 2,803 yards and 28 TDs and rushed for 1,202 yards and 17 scores. He'll be throwing to senior WRs Tyrique Edwards and Bruce Bookins, who combined for 87 receptions and 16 TDs last season. RB Devine Ozigbo (combined 15 TDs rushing and receiving) is also back. The team even returns most of its offensive line.

The defense has seven starters back, including outside linebacker Deiondrick Williams (85 tackles last season) and free safety Marcus Hubbard (85 tackles, 3 INTs).
