Hebron will be interesting team to watch in District 5-5A football race

District 5-5A will be a lot of fun to watch this football season. Not so easy to pick, however.

I've got Coppell at the top because of how strong it looks up front on both offense and defense, led by 6-2, 265-pound senior DE Solomon Thomas, who is SportsDay's top-rated area recruit in the Class of 2014. But I think 5-5A will be extremely competitive.

The most intriguing team, at least on paper, could be Hebron. The Hawks finished 6-5 last year, and they return six starters on defense. That includes safety Jamal Adams, who is one of four Hebron players in SportsDay's top-100 recruits for the Class of 2014. Jamal Adams is No. 4, followed by CB Cedric Dale (38), RB Treyvon Hughes (54) and DE Daniel Wise (66).

Wait … Treyvon Hughes? Doesn't he play for Waxahachie?

Or with:

He did last season, and he gained more than 1,400 yards and scored 16 touchdowns. He's a big addition for Hebron, which features an offensive line with junior super-recruit Zach Rogers (6-1, 300).

I'm interested to see how everything comes together for Hebron, which opens the season Aug. 30 at Abilene.
