Plano East runs wild in victory over Garland Naaman Forest

GARLAND — Quarterback Corey Wesley and running backs Nathan Meadors and Dante Taylor accounted for a bulk of Plano East’s 480 yards of offense, in a 45-27 victory over Garland Naaman Forest at Williams Stadium and offsetting a 237-yard rushing effort by Jaquin Davis.

Meadors finished with 112 rushing yards and a touchdown, while Taylor ran for 97 and two scores. Taylor also had 86 yards and a touchdown receiving. Wesley pitched in with 54 yards on the ground and 175 passing yards.

Plano East’s offense didn’t need much time to get on the board, needing three plays to get into the end zone. Tre Jones ran it in from 32 yards 2:11 into the game. Wesley added a 2-point conversion for an early 8-0 lead.

Naaman Forest (1-1) cut into the lead on a 54-yard interception return by Jaskaran Singh, but Plano East (1-1) scored the next three touchdowns to take a 28-7 lead into halftime.

Taylor scored twice, sandwiching Kylon Higgins’ 32-yard interception return for a touchdown.

Justin Walker hooked up with Jay Sisomphou for the first of two touchdown passes, but 28-14 would be as close as Naaman Forest would get despite the efforts of Davis, who answered a Plano East touchdown with an electric 67-yard jaunt on the next offensive play.
