Softball player of the week (5/23): Keller's Brittany Lee

What she did: Lee homered in all three games of a best-of-3 Class 5A Region I semifinal series against El Paso Americas, the state's sixth-ranked 5A team. That included a series-winning, solo home run in the top of the seventh in Keller's 4-3 victory in Game 3 on Saturday. Keller (31-6-1), ranked fifth in the state, advanced to the regional final to play Plano (37-4), the nation's fifth-ranked team.

Who is she? A sophomore third baseman who was a first-team all-district selection as a freshman.

The stats: Lee is hitting .352 with seven home runs and 25 RBIs.

She said it: "I had a 3-1 count, and she had to put something near the strike zone. I was just able to drive it. It was awesome.'' — on her game-winning home run in Game 3.

Did you know? Lee also plays basketball for Keller, and she tore the ACL in her left knee in the first game this past season. She recovered just in time for the start of the softball season.
