North Garland coach of three sports accused of improper relationship with teen student

A North Garland High School teacher and coach turned himself into authorities Wednesday after police say he had an inappropriate relationship with a female student.

Christian Flores, 27, was charged with one count of improper relationship between a teacher and a student and one count of indecency with a child. He was released from jail Thursday morning on an unknown amount of bail.

Police said the victim was a girl under the age of 17.

Garland ISD spokesman Chris Moore said a student informed officials about the alleged relationship earlier this week and that the investigation was quickly turned over to police.

Flores was then placed on administrative leave with pay.

He has been a science teacher at North Garland High since August 2006. He was also an assistant varsity football coach, junior varsity baseball head coach and freshman 'B' boys basketball head coach, according to the school's website.

Moore said he wasn’t aware of any prior accusations against Flores.
