Allen leads group of four Texas teams in national football rankings

We're now three weeks into the playoffs, so what are rankings good for?

About what they're always good for: entertainment.

Especially national rankings, because few of the teams play each other. But still, the coaches and players will tell you that it's nice recognition.

And so, once again, Allen -- coming off its nailbiter victory over DeSoto -- gets the most recognition of the Texas teams in this week's national composite football rankings put together by MaxPreps. Katy is still in there, and Cibolo Steele is in the rankings for the second time. This week's newcomer from Texas is Austin Lake Travis.
