Video: South Grand Prairie receiver Corey Dooley, who recovered from gunshot wounds to return to football, makes a highlight-reel catch

Earlier this year, I did a story on a pretty incredible guy:

South Grand Prairie receiver Corey Dooley.

If you didn't get a chance to read about him, give the story a chance. Dooley is a football player, but the story is about his amazing recovery after being shot four times and given a 30 percent chance of survival at the hospital. Some of the things he told me as he described what he went through ... well, he immediately became a player I would root for.

Anyway, fast forward to last Friday, and I thought of Dooley as SGP beat previously undefeated Euless Trinity in the first round of the playoffs. Dooley is much more of an inspirational leader than a statistical one for the Warriors, but he did have one catch that turned heads.

And Dooley, a super-friendly guy who makes sure I'm up to date on what's going on with the South Grand Prairie team, sent me a link to the catch. (Via the Twitter of Travis L. Brown):

Pretty nice catch. And a pretty acrobatic follow through by Dooley. It's hard to believe that two years ago, Dooley was just getting out of the hospital after suffering four gunshot wounds -- including two in his right side. He's really an inspirational guy.

Here's what he said in the story:

"God sometimes has to bring us through challenges to get the reward. A lot of people have heard my story, and now I'm looked upon as a leader and somebody to be an example. I love that."
