Frisco Wakeland 2, Frisco Centennial 1 (SO): Frisco Wakeland's goalkeeper Sam Whaley made a big impact right away, saving the first shot he saw to help lead Wakeland past cross-town rival Frisco Centennial, 4-3, in a shootout.

“Sam saved the first one, but unfortunately for their last shooter, he hit the crossbar.” Wakeland head coach Rusty Oglesby said. “I tell you, I am too old for this stuff, man”

Wakeland went up 1-0 early in the second half of regulation time on a goal by Corey Cantor, which was set up by Brett Berdinsky.

Centennial drew even with about 15 minutes remaining and the teams continued the back and forth match through overtime before penalty kicks decided the winner.

Wakeland and Mesquite Poteet will play at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Highland Park in the regional quarterfinals.

Plano West 3, Lakeview Centennial 2:Two games were postponed because of inclement weather Thursday night - Plano West-Garland Lakeview Centennial and McKinney Boyd-Tyler Lee.

Plano West, nearly 24 hours after the match was postponed, made quick work of their return to the pitch, with Hernan Ramos converting a penalty kick with under 13 minutes left to beat Lakeview, 3-2.

McKinney Boyd 2, Tyler Lee 0: McKinney Boyd, which was in a scoreless draw at the end of regulation, punched in a pair of goals by Hayden Uhl and Hayden Brown in the overtime periods to eliminate Lee, 2-0, on Friday evening in Forney.

McKinney Boyd will face Richardson Pearce in the regional quarterfinals.

GIRLS

Plano West 9, Rockwall 1: Plano West opened up the floodgates after last night's storms with a flurry of goals, trouncing Rockwall in the area round of the 5A girls playoffs.

Abby Grace Cooper notched a hat trick, while Lakyn Pope tacked on two goals as well.

Plano West will face its district counterpart Allen, which ousted Longview in a shootout in the regionals.

McKinney Boyd 2, Sachse 1: Goals by Sydnie Dozine and Libby Murphy helped McKinney Boyd eliminate Sachse after weather postponed the teams' Thursday night match with 14 minutes left in the first half of play.

The score was tied 1-1 until the skies opened up and sent the teams home until Friday.

Sachse’s lone goal was scored by Chelsea Followwell and she was assisted by Jade Abarca.

Boyd is paired with its MISD counterpart McKinney High in the regional quarterfinal set for Tuesday at Ron Poe Stadium.

Highland Park 2, Frisco 1: Highland Park's girls continues is march toward a hopeful sixth state title after goals by Megan Uhr and Hope Hyde staked it to a win over Frisco in the 4A sectional round of the playoffs.

Highland Park, will play Forney in the regional quarterfinals on Monday/Tuesday.

Highland Park last won a 4A state title in 2012 and advanced to the state championship game last season.

Waxahachie 3, Corsicana 0: Waxahachie's girls advance to the fourth round of the playoffs after shutting out neighboring rival Corsicana.

Tierney Thomison and Karleigh Hector scored first half goals to put Waxahachie up 2-0 early on, and Millie Atkins added the insurance goal in the final 40 minutes.
