Dallas-area stars Emmanuel Mudiay, Ariel Atkins shine in McDonald's All-American games

CHICAGO — National player of the year Jahlil Okafor from Chicago had 17 points and seven rebounds, and Prime Prep Academy’s Emmanuel Mudiay added 15 points as the West team defeated the East, 105-102, in the boys McDonald’s All-America game Wednesday night.

Mudiay, an SMU signee, was 6-of-15 from the field and had six assists. Euless Trinity 7-footer Myles Turner, who hasn’t committed yet, had seven points and seven rebounds for the East.

North Carolina-bound Justin Jackson, who shared co-MVP honors with Okafor, led the East with 23 points.

In the girls game, Duncanville guard Ariel Atkins scored 12 points to help the West to an 80-78 win. Atkins, a Texas signee who was named the national player of the year last week, also had four rebounds and two assists.
