Basketball replay: Duncanville girls tested early but extend win streak to 94

Bowie boys beat Martin at buzzer
Dante Hales scored on about an 8-foot putback at the buzzer to give the Arlington Bowie boys a 55-53 win over Arlington Martin in a battle for first place in District 3-5A on Friday.
Bowie (19-3, 7-0), ranked 17th in the state in Class 5A, scored only five points in the fourth quarter. But Bowie held Martin (13-7, 6-1) to six points in the final quarter.
David Chavlovich led Bowie with 21 points, and Brandon Hall added 14. Arkansas signee Nick Babb and Andrew Dotson scored 14 apiece for Martin.
Duncanville girls tested early
The defending 5A state champion Duncanville girls trailed Mansfield Timberview, 11-3, early and was tied after one quarter. But Duncanville (24-0, 9-0 in 7-5A) outscored Timberview, 41-26, in the second half to win, 75-53, and extend its winning streak to 94 games.
Texas signee Ariel Atkins led Duncanville with 20 points. Kansas signee Terriell Bradley scored 30 for Timberview (19-8, 7-2).
Lancaster, DeSoto boys lead tight district races
The Lancaster boys beat Mansfield Summit, 71-60, and are now alone in first place in District 15-4A after Arlington Seguin lost to Red Oak. Kaelon Wilson (14 points, 15 rebounds), Elijah Thomas (14 points, 14 rebounds) and Nate Morris (11 points, 10 rebounds) all had double-doubles for Lancaster, the state's fifth-ranked 4A team. ... The DeSoto boys beat Mansfield, 43-29, and remained one game ahead of South Grand Prairie, Cedar Hill and Duncanville in 7-5A.
Deon Barrett and Edric Dennis, Skyline: Barrett scored 21 points, and Dennis added 16 to lead Skyline (13-5, 5-2 District 9-5A) to a 65-62 win over Richardson Berkner, the state’s 12th-ranked 5A team. Texas Tech pledge Keenan Evans scored 30 for Berkner (16-5, 6-1), which leads 9-5A by one game over Skyline, Richardson and Jesuit.
Olin Carter, Allen, guard: Scored 29 points as the state’s 23rd-ranked 5A team beat Plano, 55-39. Allen (19-3, 3-0) stayed tied with Plano West for first in 10-5A. Plano West beat Plano East, 60-56.
Anthony Davis, Lewisville, center: Scored 25 points as Lewisville (16-4, 2-1 District 5-5A), the state’s eighth-ranked 5A team, beat Coppell, 73-55.
Bryson Robinson, Mesquite, wing: Scored 20 points, and his four-point play in the fourth quarter gave 12-5A leader Mesquite (12-9, 6-0) a lead as it beat Mesquite Horn, 48-42. Mesquite trailed by eight entering the fourth quarter but outscored Horn, 22-8, in the final quarter.
Chris Kouakou, Keller Fossil Ridge, guard: Scored 16 points in a 65-64 win over Justin Northwest, the state’s fifth-ranked 5A team. Fossil Ridge (15-6, 6-1) and Keller are tied for first in 4-5A, and Northwest fell one game back.
Jeremy Combs, Carter: The North Texas signee scored 27 points in a 59-56 win over Adamson.
Karrey Sanders, Life Red Oak: Scored 21 points in a 75-64 win against Life Oak Cliff, the state's 24th-ranked 2A team.
Cierra Johnson, Hurst L.D. Bell, guard: The UT-Arlington signee scored 29 points as District 6-5A leader L.D. Bell beat Colleyville Heritage, 67-39. L.D. Bell (20-2, 8-1) is one game ahead of Euless Trinity and Irving MacArthur and two ahead of Heritage.
Emerald Mayfield, Arlington Bowie, forward: Scored 17 to lead the state’s sixth-ranked 5A team to a 53-37 win vs. Arlington Martin. Bowie (21-2, 9-0) increased its lead in 3-5A to two games over Martin and Arlington Lamar.
Vivian Gray, Argyle, guard: The freshman scored 22 as Argyle (26-1, 4-0 in 10-3A), ranked second in the state in 3A, beat third-ranked Celina, 53-47.
Carissa Moody, Carrollton Creekview, forward: Scored 22 in a 68-61 win vs. Carrollton Newman Smith. Newman Smith (15-6, 8-1) fell into a tie with West Mesquite for first place in 10-4A.
Breanna Powell, North Forney, point guard: Scored 15 points in a 59-56, four-overtime win over Highland Park. Her 3-pointer at the buzzer in regulation forced overtime. Alexandria Webb led North Forney with 17 points.
Mariah Mitchell, McKinney: The Arkansas signee had 24 points on 9-for-13 shooting from the field, and she added 11 rebounds and four steals in a 58-43 win over McKinney Boyd.
Elbert Robinson, Garland Lakeview: The 7-foot LSU signee scored 28 points as Lakeview (16-6, 6-0) beat Sachse, 72-56, and remained alone in first place in 11-5A.
Alana Aguirre, Frisco Wakeland: The Abilene Christian signee, who is the daughter of former Mavericks star Mark Aguirre, scored 24 points in a 56-39 win vs. Frisco Heritage.
31: Points scored in the first quarter by the West Mesquite girls in a 92-17 win against Terrell.
6: Three-pointers made in six attempts by Grant Troutt for Episcopal School of Dallas in an 84-52 win vs. Oklahoma City Casady. He scored 24 points.
32: Points scored by Kendyl Wright for the Aubrey girls in a 51-46 victory over Carrollton Ranchview.
37: Points scored by Lasani Johnson for the Bishop Dunne boys in a 64-58 loss to John Paul II, the state’s second-ranked large private school. Johnson is the son of former Skyline and NBA star Larry Johnson.
