Lovejoy football coach Matt Green to Marble falls, pending approval
As rumored earlier, Lovejoy head football coach Matt Green is taking over at Marble Falls, an Austin-area school.
It's almost official. From the Marble Falls ISD web site:
Superintendent, Dr. Robert O'Connor announced this morning that Matt Green will be recommended to the Marble Falls I.S.D. Board Monday night as the new Athletic Director and Head Football Coach for the MFHS Mustangs. Green, who was the District 13-4A Coach of the Year, is known for his offense, which averaged 489 yards and 42.5 points per game in 2013.
"We were looking for a coach who will continue to build on the successes we've had offensively," said O'Connor. "Coach Green has an excellent record as a Head Football Coach at Lovejoy with a focus on the offensive game plan. He was also an Assistant Head Coach and Offensive Coordinator for Lake Travis during three of their State Championship seasons. Matt is a young and energetic coach who builds a great rapport with his high school athletes."
O'Connor indicated that MFISD was looking for a community guy who wants to be in Marble Falls for a long time. Green emphasized his understanding of the importance of working with the staff at the High School and with the community to continue to build a successful athletic program. With his experience at Lake Travis before they moved up a Division, Green is intimately familiar with Marble Falls' District competition in Central Texas.
