Argyle 55, Melissa 27
PROSPER — Now, things get interesting for Argyle.
Junior running back Nick Ralston set a school record with 365 yards on 28 carries and also set a school record for most touchdowns in a game with five to lead No. 1 Argyle to a 55-27 victory over Melissa in the Class 3A Division II area playoff at B.W. Durham Stadium.
Ralston’s total yardage was more than Melissa gained as a team (352 yards), and Argyle also set a school record with 570 team rushing yards.
The win sends Argyle (12-0) to the Region II semifinals and a highly anticipated matchup against another familiar foe, No. 4 Gilmer, (10-1), the team that knocked Argyle out of the playoffs last year in the regional semifinals. The game is tentatively set for Friday at Dallas ISD’s Kincaide Stadium.
