Week 6 roundup (3A/2A/Private): Celina hits extra gear in second half; St. Mark’s QB tosses 5 TDs in win
Celina 56, Carrollton Ranchview 17
CELINA — Celina used its speed to take control in the second half and pull away from Carrollton Ranchview for a 56-17 victory.
Ranchview’s defense helped it stay in the game before halftime, but Celina’s offense dominated in the second half, scoring 35 points en route to 500 total yards for the night.

Oklahoma defensive lineman commit Brandon Glenn dominated Celina’s offensive line, helping his team hold the Bobcats to a net of -9 yards on the first two drives. However, Glenn struggled to be a factor in the second half. Celina posted 35 points in the second half with a series of big plays from scrimmage and long returns in the kicking game en route to 500 yards of total offense.
Quarterback Nathan Elliott passed for 209 yards and rushed for 70 to help the state’s No. 8 team in the Class 3A rankings stayed unbeaten at 7-0.
Aubrey 28, Frisco Lone Star 17
AUBREY — Aubrey’s defense put up a wall in the second half, shutting out Frisco Lone Star and pulling an upset in District 10-3A.
Aubrey used an effective running game to control the clock in the second half and score three unanswered touchdowns to topple Lone Star, the No. 8 team in the 3A-others area rankings.
Ferris 28, Madison 6
FERRIS — Ferris (7-0, 1-0 District 11-3A) used a swarming defense to frustrate Madison in the teams’ district opener.
Javaughn Thurman rushed 18 times for 143 yards and two touchdowns as Ferris, No. 5 in the Class 3A-other area rankings, ran its winning streak to seven.
Anna 45, Nevada Community 29
ANNA — Anna took advantage of five turnovers, and Isaac Armijo scored three times in a victory over Nevada Community.
John Erwin also scored twice as Anna rolled up 329 rushing yards in its first win since the season’s opening week.
Princeton 55, Bonham 12
PRINCETON — Jakari Dillard caught two touchdown passes and returned a kickoff for another score as Princeton (7-0), No. 3 in the Class-3A-others area rankings, defeated Bonham (2-5) in the team’s District 12-3A opener.
Kaufman 34, Emory Rains 13
EMORY — Clay Rhodes rushed for 154 yards and three touchdowns to lead Kaufman past Emory Rains in each team’s District 14-3A opener.
Rhodes led a rushing attack that had 254 yards on 33 attempts, a 7.7-yard average.

MILLSAP — Russell Holder scored three touchdowns, and Draylon Sterling and Mikey Muncy added two each as Corsicana Mildred (5-1, 3-0 District 6-2A-II rolled past Millsap.

Pilot Point 20, Ponder 12
PONDER — Travis Garrett rushed for 137 yards and three touchdowns, including a 61-yard burst in the fourth quarter, as Pilot Point held off Ponder in a District 5-2A-I game.
Garrett had given Pilot Point a 13-6 lead in the fourth quarter with his second touchdown, a 4-yard run. But Christian Worthington returned the ensuing kickoff for a touchdown but failed on a two-point conversion try.

FARMERSVILLE — Cole Anderson passed for three touchdowns and ran for two more as Farmersville (4-3, 2-1 District 6-2A-I) ran past Howe (2-4, 0-2).
Prestonwood Christian 73, John Paul II 7
PLANO — Ryan Bradbury and Michael Irvin accounted for three touchdowns each as Prestonwood Christian (6-1, 3-0 TAPPS 1-I) routed John Paul II (0-6, 0-3).
Jonathon Heasley claimed a team-leading 132 of Prestonwood’s 464 receiving yards, and Irvin had 114.
Argyle Liberty Christian, 30, Bishop Dunne 27
ARGYLE — Colby Moore’s 13-yard touchdown pass to Cody Hughes with 24 seconds remaining in the game gave Argyle Liberty Christian (4-2, 1-1 TAPPS 1-I) the lead, and it added a safety in the final seconds to defeat Bishop Dunne (4-2, 1-2).
TCA-Addision 42, Bishop Lynch 28
ADDISON — TCA-Addison (5-1, 1-1) trailed Bishop Lynch (4-3, 0-2) 28-14 at halftime before scoring 28 unanswered points in the second half. Junior Nahshon Ellerbe led TCA-Addison with 235 yards and four touchdowns.
Arlington Grace Prep 21, Arlington Pantego Christian 7
GRAND PRAIRIE — Arlington Grace Prep (1-6, 1-2) got a big night from senior Brad Horner (157 yards on 27 carries) as it defeated Arlington Pantego (1-5, 0-3).

CARROLLTON — Reigning district champion Dallas Christian (6-0, 3-0) held Prince of Peace Christian (4-2, 1-2) to 2 total yards and one first down in a shutout win.
Garland Christian 34, Irving the Highlands 19
IRVING — Senior quarterback Braxton Berry rushed for 300 yards and three touchdowns and his brother Brock Berry had 100 yards receiving and two touchdowns to lead Garland Christian (4-3, 1-0) to a district-opening win.
Cistercian 45, OKC Casady 10
IRVING — Cistercian rebounded from a slow start to put up 31 points in two quarters as the team beat Oklahoma City Casady.
Cistercian quarterback Matthew Merrick finished with 202 yards and two passing touchdowns, and running back Dare Odeyingbo rushed for 145 yards and three touchdowns.
St. Mark's 55, Episcopal School of Dallas 35
John Webb threw for 398 yards and five touchdowns as St. Mark’s beat Episcopal School of Dallas, 55-35.
Mac Labhart, a starting linebacker for St. Mark’s, filled in for an injured running back and carried 11 times for 75 yards and two touchdowns. His first score, a 3-yard plunge in the first quarter, gave his team the lead for good at 14-7.
