Mesquite, DeSoto produce most Dallas-area football signees

Eleven Dallas-area football programs had 10 or more players sign on Wednesday. That’s an impressive number, even when it folds in players who signed with small colleges or junior colleges.

Mesquite had the most with 18, and that doesn’t include the player who was the District 12-5A MVP last season: Alex Cooper. The quarterback said Wednesday that he is planning to play basketball in college.

Below are the Dallas-area schools that had 10 or more signees Wednesday (including junior colleges). Some schools have quite a few FBS signees, whereas others are heavy on small schools. They all count the same in this list, but if you want to go deeper in comparison, here's the complete list by school.

Also, for clarification, this is based on the lists of signees we were provided by the schools.

It’s probably not surprising that only one of the teams above finished the season with a losing record. Timberview was 3-7, but it played in the state’s toughest football district (7-5A, along with DeSoto and Cedar Hill).
