Daeshon Hall went from being a surefire basketball recruit to one of the most coveted defensive ends in the country within a year.
The 6-6, 230-pound Hall was collecting basketball offers and interest from top programs until the end of his junior season. That’s when he changed gears and became singularly focused on one goal.
“What I’m striving to do is graduate in three years and go to the NFL,” Hall said. “I needed to focus on football.”
Hall looked the part of a future Sunday star as a senior in 2012, racking up 91 tackles and 18 sacks for Lancaster, the Class 4A Division II state runner-up.
Offenses needed to account for Hall on nearly every snap. He had 26 tackles for loss, 22 pressures and blocked three kicks.
Hall, who was formerly committed to Texas, pledged to Washington last summer over offers from LSU, USC, Notre Dame and Texas A&M.
Washington has given Hall the option of also playing basketball, but Hall hasn’t decided whether he will continue his basketball career after this season with Lancaster.
