Plano Prestonwood linebacker Mike Mitchell commits to Ohio State

Plano Prestonwood senior linebacker Mike Mitchell committed to Ohio State during NBC’s broadcast of Saturday’s U.S. Army All-American Bowl from the Alamodome in San Antonio. Mitchell (6-4, 216), ranked as the state’s third-best recruit in the Class of 2013 by Rivals.com, chose Ohio State over Texas A&M and Oregon.

“Coach Urban [Meyer] has a real good program going, 12-0 [this season],” Mitchell said when asked why he chose the Buckeyes. “It’s Ohio State. It’s a big program. They’re going to do big things.”

Mitchell is No. 30 in Rivals.com’s national recruiting rankings. He had 174 tackles and four sacks this season.
