Allen QB Kyler Murray excited by newest Twitter follower: Texas A&M’s Johnny Manziel
It’s no surprise that Allen sophomore quarterback Kyler Murray earned a few extra fans after he helped the Eagles blow past DeSoto in the 5A Division II state semifinal game Saturday night.
But the fact that one of his new supporters is a Heisman Trophy winner? That’s something to brag about.
Sunday night, Murray tweeted at Texas A&M quarterback Johnny Manziel, who became one of Murray’s newest Twitter followers after Allen’s big win.

Manziel, who became the first freshman in history to win the Heisman Trophy, used his legs to terrorize opposing defenses this year, as did Murray. Manziel finished the regular season with 1,181 rushing yards and 19 touchdowns for A&M, while Murray has 1,227 rushing yards and 23 touchdowns so far for Allen.
Aside from having arguably the most famous Aggie as a Twitter follower, Murray has other ties to A&M, too. His father, Kevin Murray, played quarterback at Texas A&M in the mid-80s, going 25-6-1 in three seasons as a starter.
