Flower Mound Marcus QB Cade Erwin, replacement for brother Cole who tore ACL in August, tears ACL last week vs. Denton Ryan
Flower Mound Marcus quarterback Cade Erwin is out for the rest of the season with a torn ACL. Erwin was the replacement quarterback after his brother Cole tore his ACL in Marcus’ preseason scrimmage against Skyline.
Cade ran a quarterback counter on the first drive of the game in Marcus’ 18-6 loss to Denton Ryan. After getting hit, he heard his knee pop and didn’t play the rest of the game. An MRI Saturday morning revealed a torn ACL. Surgery comes Friday.
“He was pretty devastated like we all were,” said Marcus coach Bryan Erwin who is also both players’ father. “It’s pretty incredible. We’re being tested but we’re going to remain faithful, remain strong and press on.”
Bryan said he didn’t know who would be his next quarterback. Ryan Vaughan, listed on the roster as a linebacker, replaced Cade against Denton Ryan, going 9-of-22 for 107 yards. Vaughan had thrown 17 passes in Marcus’ first four games.
