QB Devante Kincade's 4 TD passes fuel Skyline's 42-6 rout of Lake Highlands

Skyline’s fast starts have gotten the perennial power off to a fast start in District 9-5A. Facing another top challenger, Skyline jumped out quickly in a 42-6 victory over Lake Highlands.

Skyline senior quarterback Devante Kincade threw four touchdown passes. The Mississippi commit had thrown and rushed for a touchdown in the first five minutes.

In its first two district games, Skyline (4-1, 2-0) met teams with combined 7-1 records and outscored them 90-30. Skyline defeated Jesuit last week after taking an 18-point halftime lead. Skyline was upset by Arlington Bowie (38-36) two weeks ago in its last non-district game.

Kincade, who has helped Skyline to a 27-5 record the last three years, has shined against Lake Highlands.

Kincade completed 16-of-21 passes for 209 yards and four touchdowns. As a 3-year starter against Lake Highlands, Kincade has completed 53-of-71 for 793 yards and nine touchdowns.

Skyline, which scored on seven of its first eight possessions in a 56-24 victory over Jesuit, scored on its first three possessions to take a 21-0 lead in less than seven minutes against Lake Highlands (3-2, 1-1).

Rashaad Samples caught a 20-yard touchdown pass from Kincade for the first score on the opening drive, an 11-play, 75-yard effort. Skyline then led 14-0 after a short punt into the wind got Skyline started at midfield.

After a Lake Highlands fumble at its own 23, Skyline scored in four plays as Samples caught a 10-yard touchdown pass.

Lake Highlands pulled within 21-6 after a 5-yard scoring run by sophomore running back Tyler Hughes capped a 98-yard drive keyed by 52 yards rushing by Lake Highlands senior quarterback Trent Jones.

Skyline led 28-6 after a last-minute, first-half drive was helped by a roughing the punter penalty and 15 yards for a personal foul following a tackle. Skyline scored with seven seconds left in the half on a 2-yard pass from Kincade to Ellis Onic.
