After convincing wins last week, Allen and DeSoto both moved up a little in this week's MaxPreps Xcellent 25 football rankings.
Allen is up to No. 15 after a win over Hebron and DeSoto is up to No. 16 after a win over Cedar Hill. The other Texas team in the rankings is Katy, which jumped in at No. 23.
Lake Travis dropped out after its loss to A&M Consolidated.
In the Rivals.com rankings, DeSoto is No. 9 and Allen is No. 12.
Allen gets a big test this week when it plays at undefeated Coppell. DeSoto is home against South Grand Prairie, which knocked off Mansfield last week in its District 7-5A opener.
