Garland Lakeview wide receiver Jarvis Baxter picks SMU over UNT
Jarvis Baxter may have had some trouble getting in contact with SMU defensive coordinator Tom Mason, who was coaching in Japan, but when the Lakeview Centennial wide out finally got a hold of him, he committed.
“What I like about SMU is the coaching staff. Education is important as well,” Baxter told Scout.com. “It’s somewhere where I can come in and get playing time at. That’s what my family wanted. They wanted me to go somewhere where I could play and get a good education. That’s why I committed to SMU.”
Scout.com rated Baxter as a two-star recruit and ranked him as one of the nation’s top-200 wide receivers. He also held an offer from North Texas and had strong interest from Baylor and Virginia.
Last season, Baxter recorded 39 receptions for 666 yards and seven touchdowns.
