Week 8 3A/2A/private school roundup: Aubrey tops rival for first time since '77; Prestonwood hammers Bishop Lynch

Aubrey 35, Pilot Point 7

AUBREY — Behind a dominant defensive performance, Aubrey defeated Pilot Point for the first time in 34 years, 35-7.

Aubrey (3-5, 1-2) had not beaten Pilot Point (2-5, 1-2) since 1977. That was current Aubrey head coach G.A. Moore’s first year leading his alma mater, Pilot Point, as head coach, and preceded state titles in 1980 and 1981.

Aubrey took control early, as Anthony Alford’s 54-yard interception return for a touchdown gave Aubrey a 7-0 lead. Pilot Point managed just 201 yards and scored its only touchdown in the fourth quarter on a 35-yard pass from Travis Garrett to Austin Trinklein.

Kaufman 31, Crandall 13

KAUFMAN — Ryder Bounds had 133 total yards and ran for a touchdown to lead Kaufman (3-5, 2-1) to a District 13-3A victory over rival Crandall (3-5, 1-2) at Lions Stadium.

In the second half, Kaufman had scores of 1, 7 and 2 yards to build a 31-6 lead. Bounds finished with 91 rushing yards, and Kaufman totaled 265 rushing yards.

Crandall’s Ryan Long passed for 178 yards and two touchdowns. The first TD pass was a 77-yarder to Tyrin Jones, and he closed the scoring with a 37-yard TD pass to Austin Pryor.

Lovejoy 54, Frisco Lone Star 29

FRISCO — At Pizza Hut Park, Nick LaSane ran for 208 yards and four touchdowns as Lovejoy (5-3, 2-1) rolled past Frisco Lone Star (3-5, 0-3).

Lovejoy started slowly, and led only 7-3 seven minutes before halftime. Then, LaSane scored four touchdowns in the next eight minutes on runs of 12, 28, 26, and 1 yards.

Brandon McKenzie’s 27-yard touchdown reception from Cullon Greene with 9:34 left in the third quarter completed a 34-0 scoring spree in 9:06, breaking the game open.

Lone Star’s Macauley Johnson rushed for 176 yards and a touchdown.

Princeton 41, Farmersville 39

FARMERSVILLE — Stacey Dillard passed for 203 yards and two touchdowns to lead Princeton (6-2, 3-0) past Famersville (2-6, 1-2).

Dillard also rushed for 205 yards, and his 22-yard touchdown run in the second quarter gave Princeton a 34-19 lead.

Christopher Stanley’s two-point conversion pass attempt for Farmersville fell incomplete with two minutes left.

Stanley’s 43-yard pass to Byron Brooks had drawn Farmersville within two points. Stanley passed for 326 yards.

Kennedale 31, Hillsboro 0

KENNEDALE — Kennedale’s Brett Wade led a defense that limited Hillsboro to 49 yards.

Cody Coleman led the offense for Kennedale (6-2, 2-1) with 182 rushing yards on 20 carries. Donny Darville pitched in 54 yards on 15 carries.

Hillsboro (1-5, 0-2) was led by Chris Segura’s 46 rushing yards.

Roosevelt 68, Fort Worth Diamond Hill-Jarvis 0

Roosevelt running back Devin Johnson rushed for 130 yards on six carries to lead his team to a blowout victory. Johnson scored three rushing touchdowns in the first half alone, on runs of 21, 14 and 59 yards.

Also leading Roosevelt (4-4, 2-1) was quarterback Deaunte Williams, who was 6-of-6 passing for 102 yards in the first half, including two touchdown passes.

The defense also got in the act with two second-quarter touchdowns. The first came on a 12-yard fumble return by Lenzell Fulcher. The second came on a 12-yard interception return by defensive back Patrick Levels.

Diamond Hill-Jarvis was led by quarterback Israel Tovar, who was 6-of-13 passing for 32 yards.

Sanger 56, Whitesboro 36

WHITESBORO — Sanger clinched its second straight playoff berth and remained undefeated following a victory against Whitesboro.

Sanger quarterback Dane Evans, who has orally committed to Tulsa, completed 8 of 24 passes for 241 yards, one touchdown and two interceptions. Whitesboro quarterback Jordan Gill returned to the field after missing a week because of injury. Hill went 14-of-27 for 209 yards and an interception.

Brock Squier picked up 213 total yards and scored five rushing touchdowns and one receiving touchdown for Sanger (8-0, 3-0). For Whitesboro (5-3, 1-2), running back Collin Kilcrease carried the ball 16 times for 120 yards and four touchdowns.

The loss was Whitesboro’s first home defeat of the season.

Bonham 21, Anna 19

ANNA — Bonham scored 21 points on three first-half rushing touchdowns and held on to defeat Anna (2-6, 0-2). Jordan Smith broke free on the game’s third play and scored from 50 yards to put Bonham on the board early.

Bonham’s offensive game plan was simple — pound the ball with the run. Bonham had 258 yards on the ground on 38 attempts.

Koltin Kinkade led Bonham’s rushing attack with 142 yards and a score. He also intercepted two passes.

Anna recovered a fumble with 2:16 left in the game, but Bonham regained possession when it came up with its fourth interception of the game.

Prosper 63, Nevada Community 2

NEVADA — Javelle Allen passed for 354 yards and five touchdowns and ran for two more scores as Prosper (6-2, 3-0) defeated Nevada Community (0-8, 0-3).

Torii Hunter Jr. had 137 receiving yards and three touchdowns for Prosper, while Darius Hunter added three touchdowns on a 9-yard reception, a 72-yard reception and an 80-yard kickoff return.

Prosper had eight sacks and allowed only 32 rushing yards.

The teams combined for 297 penalty yards.

Corey Rogers had 87 yards on eight catches for Nevada Community, which scored its only points on a third-quarter safety.

North Forney 47, Ferris 14

FERRIS — Stephen Buckley ran for two touchdowns and threw for another as North Forney (7-1, 3-0) powered past Ferris (2-6, 2-1) at Yellowjacket Stadium.

North Forney amassed 563 yards.

Buckley had touchdown runs of 2 and 22 yards, while North Forney fullback Giresse Forchu rushed for a game-high 185 yards and two touchdowns.

It was North Forney’s seventh consecutive win.

Argyle 59, Gainesville 7

GAINESVILLE — Austin Aune passed for four touchdowns and ran for another as Argyle blasted Gainesville.

Aune threw TD passes for four different receivers as Argyle rolled up 194 passing yards to go with 156 rushing yards. Gainesville was limited to 150 yards and nine first downs.

Aune rushed for a 9-yard TD in the first quarter. Argyle added an 8-yard TD pass from Aune to Chadd Bossow and a 17-yard TD pass from Aune to Will DeSpain before a 34-yard field goal gave Argyle a 24-0 lead after one quarter.

Melissa 41, Mineola 17

MELISSA — Wes McQueen passed for three touchdowns and rushed for another to lead Melissa to a blowout win over Mineola.

McQueen threw TD passes of 42 yards to Jackson Webb, 43 yards to Brad Bush and 24 yards to Michael Ellis. He added a 1-yard TD run.

Jackson Bush and Darius Garcia scored Melissa’s other touchdowns.

PRIVATE SCHOOL ROUNDUP

Prestonwood Christian 38, Bishop Lynch 17

Parker Ash, who had missed the previous six quarters with an injury, threw for 269 yards and three touchdowns to lead Prestonwood Christian (6-2, 4-1 TAPPS 1-I), second in SportsDay’s large private school rankings, to a 38-17 victory over third-ranked Bishop Lynch (4-4, 1-3) at Roffino Stadium.

Ash’s favorite target, 6-9 Zach Peters, caught eight passes for a game-high 149 yards and a touchdown, and freshman Raleigh Beougher ran for two scores.

Prestonwood, which has sole possession of first place in its district, broke open a close game midway through the second quarter when Garrett Paulette blocked a Bishop Lynch punt and Ash threw a 17-yard scoring pass to Peters on the next play.

The two combined on a 33-yard pass four minutes later to set up a 10-yard touchdown run by Beougher, who scored again on a one-yard carry with 40 seconds remaining to give Prestonwood a 28-3 halftime lead.

Cistercian 21, Episcopal Dallas 14

IRVING — Cistercian (4-5) rallied with a late touchdown and two-point conversion to defeat Episcopal School of Dallas (2-6). Cistercian achieved a balanced attack all night, led by quarterback Ford Albert and running back Johnny Garnett. Albert threw for 188 of Cistercian’s 244 passing yards. Cistercian scored the go-ahead touchdown with 1:58 remaining. David Novinski punched in a two-point conversion to bring the lead to 7. Cistercian picked off a pass in the closing seconds to ensure the victory.

Garland Christian 56, Rockwall Christian 26

GARLAND — Garland Christian scored on its first four possesions and never looked back en route to a 56-26 district win over Rockwall Christian.

Garland Christian (7-1, 3-0) had 604 total yards and 28 first downs and was led by Hayden Burnett’s 257 yards passing, three touchdowns and 67 yards rushing.

Caleb Petersen led GCA defensively with 16 tackles and two tackles for loss.

Fort Worth Christian 48,  Arlington Grace Prep 29

GRAND PRAIRIE — Fort Worth Christian (7-1, 2-1) defeated Arlington Grace Prep (5-3, 1-2) at Grace Prep’s home field in South Grand Prairie.

Fort Worth Christian rode a dominating rushing attack totaling 499 yards. Fort Worth Christian did not need to attempt a pass or punt the ball the whole game. Jared Taylor led the rushing attack with 299 yards and four touchdowns.

Grace Prep’s offense used a different approach, with Foster Sawyer completing 34 of 52 passes for 342 yards.

Parish Episcopal 49, Tyler Grace Community 42

FARMERS BRANCH — Defending TAPPS Division II state champs Parish Episcopal moved to 7-1 (2-1) by defeating Tyler Grace Community, 49-42.

Parish Episcopal’s single-wing attack rolled to 584 yards, led by junior Tre Vance, who gained 348 yards on 21 carries with four touchdowns.

The Tyler Grace Community (5-3, 1-1) spread offense was led by junior quarterback Blake White, who threw for 338 yards and five touchdowns.

Houston Kinkaid 56, St. Mark's 13

Quarterback Ford Childress accounted for four touchdowns and running back Sam Eggleston added three scoring runs to lead unbeaten Houston Kinkaid (9-0, 5-0) to victory over St. Mark’s (6-2, 3-2) in an SPC Division I contest at Norma and Lamar Hunt Family Stadium.

Childress, a senior, completed 27 of 45 passes for 418 yards, including 326 yards in the first half.

Fort Worth Nolan 57, Bishop Dunne 14

FORT WORTH — Nolan pounded out 462 rushing yards on the way to a 57-14 win over Bishop Dunne in a TAPPS I-1 game.

Arlington Oakridge 29, Krum 19

ARLINGTON — Krum was unable to spoil Arlington-Oakridge’s homecoming, losing 29-19 in a hard-fought game.

Grapevine Faith Christian 36,  Fort Worth Southwest Christian 7

GRAPEVINE — Davy Nanson rushed for three touchdowns, including a 67-yard jaunt, to lead Grapevine Faith to a 36-7 homecoming win over Fort Worth Southwest Christian on Friday night.

Fort Worth All Saints 42, Fort Worth Country Day 7

FORT WORTH — After failing to gain a first down on its initial possession, All Saints (8-1, 4-1) scored the next four times it had the ball to take a 28-0 lead less than a minute into the second quarter en route to a 42-7 win over Country Day (5-4, 3-2).

Argyle Liberty 65, John Paul II 32

Argyle Liberty scored 42 points in the second half and finished with 546 yards of offense in a win over John Paul II. Liberty running back Miles Smith ran for 184 yards.

Richardson Canyon Creek 30, McKinney Christian 25

Fullback Loghan Tufford  scored the winning touchdown with 52 seconds left to lift Richardson Canyon Creek past McKinney Christian. Quarterback Cameron Oliver led the way by rushing for 156 yards.
