Week 7 private schools roundup: FW Trinity Valley blanks Cistercian, 30-0
Garland Christian wins on final play against McKinney Christian
ARLINGTON — Senior Josh Atkinson’s interception with six seconds remaining secured Arlington Oakridge’s 42-37 win over Fort Worth All Saints in a matchup of SPC Division II powers Friday night.
All Saints (7-1, 3-1) is No. 1 in SportsDay’s small private schools area rankings. Oakridge (7-1, 5-0) is ranked No. 2.
Brayden Frank had 32 carries for 175 yards and two touchdowns to lead Oakridge.
After trailing, 31-28, early in the third quarter, Oakridge scored on its next two possessions to take a 42-31 advantage with 11:27 remaining in the game.
Garland Christian 45, McKinney Christian 44
McKINNEY — Hayden Burnett connected with Marcus Ketter in the back of the end zone for a 15-yard touchdown pass as time expired, and Burnett then kicked the extra point as Garland Christian (6-1, 2-0 TAPPS 2-IV) beat McKinney Christian (3-4, 1-1).
Garland Christian trailed by 14 with less than four minutes left. With 11 seconds left, Burnett hit Braxton Berry for a 40-yard pass to set up the game-winning play.
TCA-Addison 42, John Paul II 13
ADDISON — Daniel Davidson passed for 336 yards and three touchdowns, and Tanner Snow had a 100-yard interception return for a score as TCA-Addison (4-4, 2-2) beat John Paul II in a TAPPS 1-I game.
For John Paul II (3-4, 0-3) quarterback Christian Boese completed 31 of 58 passes for 368 yards..
Argyle Liberty Christian 34, Bishop Dunne 6
ARGYLE — Josh Cousins threw for two touchdowns, and Miles Smith ran for 106 yards as Argyle Liberty (4-3, 2-2 TAPPS 1-I) beat Bishop Dunne (3-4, 2-1).
St. Mark’s 61, Episcopal Dallas 42
Sophomore quarterback John Webb passed for six touchdowns and 362 yards to lead St. Mark’s (6-1) to victory over Episcopal School of Dallas (2-6). Webb connected with senior wide receiver Cameron Kline on four touchdowns and threw two more to sophomore wide receiver John Caldwell.
Quarterback Richie Loftus passed for 359 yards and four touchdowns to pace Episcopal School of Dallas. Wide receiver Bryan Tonti hauled in seven passes for 192 yards and three touchdowns.
Parish Episcopal 17, Waco Reicher 10
WACO — Tre Vance ran for 135 yards and a touchdown to lead Parish Episcopal to victory. Andrew Boyd added 63 yards on 12 carries and scored the go-ahead touchdown with a 10-yard burst up the middle.
Parish Episcopal trailed, 10-3, in the fourth quarter, but Jeff Davis directed scoring drives of 44 and 55 yards for the come-from-behind win.
Fort Worth Trinity Valley 30, Cistercian 0
FORT WORTH — Bo Black ran for 130 yards and a touchdown, and Brandon Hudson had 88 yards receiving on just two catches, as Fort Worth Trinity Valley (5-3, 2-2 SPC Division II) beat Cistercian (3-5, 1-3).
Arlington Grace Prep 50, Fort Worth Southwest Christian 12
FORT WORTH — Foster Sawyer threw for 360 yards and six touchdowns, and Jahraan Franks caught eight passes for 166 yards and three touchdowns for Grace Prep (5-2, 1-1 TAPPS 1-II).
Midland Christian 62, Grapevine Faith Christian 7
Mason McClendon threw for four touchdowns in the first half as Midland Christian (5-2, 2-0 TAPPS 1-II) beat Grapevine Faith (4-3, 1-1).
Grapevine Faith gained some momentum when Davy Nanson returned a kickoff 89 yards for a touchdown to cut Midland Christian’s lead to 20-7. Midland Christian, however, answered and built a 41-7 halftime lead.
Carrollton Prince of Peace 55, Carrollton Christian 27
CARROLLTON — Michael Shadley passed for 167 yards and rushed for 105 to lead Carrollton Prince of Peace past Carrollton Christian. The win keeps Prince of Peace (6-1) undefeated in district play at 3-0.
Shelton 35, Lutheran 22
RICHARDSON — Rich Morton ran for 317 yards and four touchdowns, and Ben Luedtke added 127 yards rushing as Shelton held off Lutheran.
Fort Worth Christian 35, Arlington Pantego 20
Jared Taylor ran for 196 yards and three touchdowns, and Cade Stone added 120 yards rushing as Fort Worth Christian beat Arlington Pantego Christian.
