Wideout has 390 yards receiving and eight TD catches
FORT WORTH — Robbie Rhodes set state records for receiving yards in a game with 390 and touchdown receptions with eight as Fort Worth Southwest defeated Fort Worth Arlington Heights, 66-21, Friday.
Fort Worth Southwest (6-1, 6-0) amassed 741 yards of total offense while holding Arlington Heights (6-1, 5-1) to 162.
Southwest quarterback Wesley Harris was 21-of-26 passing for 550 yards and a state-record nine touchdown passes. Willie Robinson Jr. caught six passes for 108 yards and a touchdown.
With the win, Southwest takes over sole possession of first place in District 6-4A.
Burleson 29, Everman 23
BURLESON — Aaron McCarley caught a 34-yard touchdown pass as time expired to lead Burleson (5-2, 3-1) in a District 7-4A game.
Everman (4-2, 3-1) appeared to be in position to run the clock out with under a minute left in Burleson territory, but instead of punting the ball, Everman went for it on fourth-and-5 at the Burleson 37. Burleson came up with the defensive stop and scored in two plays with no timeouts for the win.
Cleburne 48, Crowley 34
CLEBURNE — Cleburne (3-4, 2-2 District 7-4A) survived a comeback from Crowley in the second half for the win.
Crowley (2-5, 1-3) was led by running back Larry Cheeks, who rushed for 314 yards and three touchdowns on 34 carries.
Cleburne led, 35-6, as Connor Martyniuk caught a 60-yard touchdown pass and returned a fumble 82 yards for a score in the second quarter. Khalil Hall had 13-yard touchdown run and a 56-yard touchdown pass from Quade Coward in the first half.
Crowley’s Larry Cheeks scored on a 28-yard run to make it 41-20. Crowley then recovered an onside kick and scored when Dalonzo Freeman rumbled in from 13 yards out to make it a two-score game at 41-27.
Lake Dallas 28, Denton 17
Lake Dallas (5-3, 2-2) put itself in control of its own destiny by rallying from a 17-7 deficit to knock off Denton in a District 4-4A contest.
Dontonio Jordan led Lake Dallas with 127 yards on 15 carries, including a 5-yard touchdown run to bring his team within three at the half. Dalyn Williams was 16-of-26 passing for 181 yards and two scores.
Denton (1-6, 0-3) was led by quarterback Dentton Hudspeth, who rushed for 107 yards and threw for 177 yards. He had touchdown passes to Ruperto Gutierrez from 3 and 38 yards out.
Denton Ryan 48, The Colony 20
DENTON — Reynal Caldwell took a blocked punt back 44 yards for Denton Ryan’s first score of the game. Sam Johnson had a 57-yard punt return for a touchdown and Garrett Mize followed with a 47-yard interception return.
The Raider defense hounded quarterback Garrett Simpson all night, forcing three interceptions and a fumble.
The Colony’s Gerald Thomas, a wide receiver committed to Colorado, finished with four catches, 80 yards and two touchdowns.
Aledo 73, Fort Worth Boswell 30
Aledo running back Johnathan Gray ran for 243 yards and scored six touchdowns on 14 carries.
Gray scored on runs of 4, 1 and 40 yards in the game’s first three minutes.
Aledo (5-2, 4-0) led, 63-10, at halftime. Gray tacked on two more touchdown runs and quarterback Matthew Bishop threw for three more.
Boswell (4-3, 3-1) quarterback Zach Files was 15-of-32 passing for 131 yards and three touchdowns. Jonathan Epps rushed for 120 yards.
Aledo outgained Boswell, 721-305.
Trophy Club Byron Nelson 28, Azle 21
AZLE — Quarterback Andrew Mitchell rushed for one touchdown and passed for two to lead Trophy Club Byron Nelson (5-2, 3-1 District 5-4A).
Ryan Lexa had seven receptions for 94 yards and two touchdowns for Trophy Club Byron Nelson.
Azle (3-4, 1-3) was led by Corbyn Koiner, who had 288 yards of total offense and two touchdown passes.
Mansfield Summit 60, Joshua 7
MANSFIELD — Summit (6-1, 4-0) rolled to a 40-0 halftime lead and took sole possesion of first place in District 7-4A. Everman and Burleson are tied in second place at 3-1.
Summit scored 34 points in the second quarter to take a 40-0 halftime lead. Calvin Burns put Summit up 6-0 in the first quarter with a 3-yard run. He added a 15-yard touchdown to start the second quarter to make it 14-0 after Donovan Ellis’ two-point conversion run.
Summit quarterback Ryan Cuevas took over from there, tossing three straight touchdown passes.
Joshua (0-7, 0-4) managed only 15 yards of offense in the first half in suffering its 24th straight loss.
Wichita Falls 49, Little Elm 21
LITTLE ELM — Senior quarterback Dylan Sheffield threw for 480 yards and seven touchdowns — including four in the first half.
Sheffield completed 34 of 48 passes to five receivers for Wichita Falls (3-4, 2-1 District 4-4A). Chance Garey hauled in 12 passes for 201 yards with touchdowns of 30, 43, and 56 yards. Diondre Singleton caught seven passes for 112 yards and two scores.
Little Elm running back Matt Marrs finished with a team-high 203 yards on 26 carries as Little Elm (6-2, 3-1) rolled up 435 yards on the ground.
Granbury 34, Arlington Seguin 27
GRANBURY — Brandon Davis rushed 37 times for a career-best 283 yards and four touchdowns as Granbury (3-4, 2-2 in 7-4A) kept their playoff hopes alive with a victory over Arlington Seguin (2-5, 1-3).
Davis had touchdown runs of 43, 4, 67 and 2 yards to thwart any comeback effort Seguin tried to muster. During one span of the second half, Davis carried the ball on 19 of 20 plays.
The loss spoiled a strong night by Seguin quarterback Kelton Moore, who rushed for 137 yards and passed for 223. However, his last attempt at a rally ended when he was sacked on fourth-and-17 in his own end in the closing seconds.
Fort Worth Brewer 45, Keller Timber Creek 43
WHITE SETTLEMENT — Fahed Alaqrabawi kicked a 42-yard field goal as time expired to lift Fort Worth Brewer (5-2, 2-2) in a District 5-4A game over Keller Timber Creek (2-5, 0-4).
