Week 7 3A-others roundup: Celina starts slow, then cruises to win

Anna fails to capitalize on two early scoring chances before falling

CELINA — Nathan Elliott passed for 137 yards and three touchdowns as Celina rolled in its first district game at home, 35-0 over Anna.

Celina (7-0, 2-0 District 10-3A) amassed 416 total yards behind Elliott and running back Jamarick Simmons, who ran for 164 yards and two scores.

Anna (2-5, 0-1) had two early opportunities, pushing inside Celina’s 20-yard line twice in the first quarter, but came away with no points.

Simmons gave Celina its first score midway through the second quarter, bulling over from 1 yard out to cap a 67-yard drive. He scored in the third quarter on a 7-yard run to make it 21-0.

Malik Berry and Darrien Hampton combined for 58 yards on the ground, and Cory Meaders passed for 87 yards to lead Anna.

Sanger 24, Aubrey 21

SANGER — The defense held its ground late to help overcome two turnovers, and Sanger held on in a tight victory over Aubrey.

Aubrey rolled up 236 rushing yards and kept Sanger’s high-octane offense, led by quarterback Dane Evans, off the field for long stretches.

Aubrey (2-5, 0-2) started off the scoring after a muffed punt gave it the ball at the Sanger 40-yard line, and Kyle Lunn capped a nine-play drive with a 3-yard touchdown run.

Sanger (7-0, 2-0) responded quickly, though. Two plays after Aubrey’s touchdown, Evans found running back Brock Squier for a 36-yard touchdown on a screen pass to tie the score with under two minutes to play in the first quarter.

Jon Garza then gave Sanger the lead for good with a 78-yard touchdown run.

Prosper 56, Frisco Lone Star 0

PROSPER — Javelle Allen threw for 275 yards and three touchdowns, and he scored another rushing as Prosper (5-2, 2-0) scored 33 first-quarter points and rolled over Frisco Lone Star (3-4, 0-2) in District 11-3A play.

Darius Hunter ran back the opening kickoff 90 yards, setting up Sean Sterling’s 9-yard touchdown run, and Hunter capped the first-quarter outburst with a 12-yard scoring run.

Argyle 59, Whitesboro 14

ARGYLE — Austin Aune completed nine of 14 passes for 230 yards and three touchdowns in Argyle’s rout of Whitesboro. Argyle (6-1, 2-0) picked up its second straight win and snapped Whitesboro’s (5-2, 1-1) five-game winning streak.

Lovejoy 21, Farmersville 14

LUCAS — Nick LaSane’s 17-yard touchdown run in the fourth quarter provided the winning margin for Lovejoy (4-3, 1-1) in a District 11-3A victory over Farmersville (2-5, 1-1). Zander Hamilton preserved the win by intercepting a pass in the end zone to end Farmersville’s ensuing possession.

North Forney 30, Kaufman 12

FORNEY — Stephen Buckley and Armani Watts each scored a pair of touchdowns as North Forney (6-1, 2-0) powered past Kaufman (2-5, 1-1) at Forney’s City Bank Stadium to remain unbeaten in District 13-3A.

Princeton 70, Nevada Community 6

PRINCETON — Ten different players scored for Princeton (5-2, 2-0) in its lopsided victory over Nevada Community (0-7, 0-2). Princeton scored on all seven of its first-half possessions on the way to a 48-0 halftime lead.

Carrollton Ranchview 27, Fort Worth Poly 20

CARROLLTON — Senior Chris Wimby scored three touchdowns, including the game winner in the second overtime on a 1-yard run, and Carrollton Ranchview won its homecoming over Fort Worth Poly (1-1, 3-4).

Crandall 55, Kemp 7

CRANDALL — Nate Banks led Crandall (3-4, 1-1 District 13-3A) to a homecoming victory over Kemp (0-7, 1-1) with 176 yards rushing, 59 more receiving, and he scored two touchdowns.

Melissa 55, Quitman 15

QUITMAN — Wes McQueen passed for 205 yards and four touchdowns to lead Melissa past Quitman in a District 7-2A game. McQueen hooked up with four different receivers on the four first-half scores, and he completed 14 of 19 pass attempts.
