5A/4A roundup: Euless Trinity doesn't pass all game, wins 64-0 with running clock
IRVING — Joel Kimpela’s 96 first-quarter rushing yards sparked a dominant Euless Trinity rushing attack in a rain-soaked game.
Kimpela carried the ball on each of Trinity’s first five offense plays, racking up all of his 96 yards, scoring one touchdown and setting up another to give his team a 15-0 lead midway through the first quarter.
Twelve players ran the ball for Trinity, combining for 410 yards on 34 carries. The Trojans did not attempt a single pass.
The game was played under a sheet of heavy rain, and with the score already out of hand and worse weather quickly approaching, both coaches agreed to keep the clock running throughout the second half. As a result, the teams combined to run just 65 offensive plays for the game.
Hurst L.D. Bell
BEDFORD — Running back Lafrontae Conkelton ran for 223 yards and a touchdown as Irving Nimitz (2-2, 1-1) beat Hurst L.D. Bell (2-2, 1-1).
Conkelton scored from 13 yards out with 5:42 left in the third quarter, putting Irving Nimitz up for good, 21-17, their first lead of the game. Irving Nimitz totaled 386 rushing yards.
The TD run came after Gabe Castillo intercepted Hurst L.D. Bell quarterback Kyle Romano. Irving Nimitz forced four turnovers, including three fumbles.
Hurst L.D. Bell receiver Denelra Dorsett caught two touchdown passes.
Up 10-7 after an Irving Nimitz touchdown, Dorsett’s second touchdown came when Romano’s pass went through the hands of two defenders before being caught and run for a touchdown totaling 69 yards.
GARLAND — Garland’s Ja’Taveon Green rushed for three of his four touchdowns in the District 10-5A opener.
Green started his scoring early, bolting for 67 yards on a direct snap in the second quarter. He finished with 182 yards rushing.
Garland’s defense forced two turnovers and held South Garland to 221 yards of offense.
Quarterback Seth Russell was 7-of-13 passing for 76 yards and a TD.
Running back Ezekiel Spellman led South Garland with 89 yards on 16 carries.

GARLAND — Grant Bothun was 10-of-14 passing for 102 yards and a touchdown and rushed for 66 rushing yards to lead Rowlett (2-2, 1-0) in a District 10-5A game.
Jalen Rhodes had an 18-yard touchdown run late in the third quarter that increased Rowlett’s lead to 24-0.
Naaman Forest (1-3, 0-1) piled up more yardage than Rowlett but was plagued by turnovers — three interceptions and two fumbles.
Juaquin Davis gained 128 yards rushing for Naaman Forest, including 80 on a fourth-quarter drive that culminated in a 3-yard Davis score with 1:37 remaining. Justin Walker rushed for 108 yards and passed for 126.
Greg Brown-Freeney rushed 17 times for 149 yards and one touchdown as Bryan Adams ran for 233 yards.
Bryan Adams (1-3) held Samuell (0-3) to 131 yards of offense. Darius Gipson blocked a punt for Bryan Adams and returned it two yards for a touchdown.
Samuell quarterback Kamron Jones was 9-of-22 passing for 90 yards.
