Bishop Lynch's Sutherland seals win for Dallas in private school all-star game

ARGYLE - Bishop Lynch running back Ian Sutherland scored on a 7-yard run with 1:37 left in the fourth quarter to lift the Dallas All-Stars to a 24-21 victory over the Fort Worth All-Stars on Saturday in the 2010 Tom Hillary DFW All-Star Classic at Bowles Stadium. The contest showcased area private school standouts.

Quarterback Peter Ashton (Grapevine Faith) opened the scoring with a 1-yard TD run with 9:52 left in the first quarter to give Fort Worth a 7-0 lead.

Dallas rallied with 17 consecutive points in the second quarter. Adam Molina (TC-Cedar Hill) booted a 46-yard field goal just 11 seconds into the second quarter. Sutherland scored on a 5-yard run with 10:36 left in the second period, and running back Grant Klembara (Lutheran) scampered in from 12 yards with 5:26 remaining before halftime to give Dallas a 17-7 lead.

Linebacker Tyler Baum (Fort Worth Nolan) recovered a fumble in the end zone 35 seconds before intermission to narrow the gap to 17-14. Baum was named Fort Worth's defensive MVP after intercepting two passes and recovering two fumbles. He also blocked two kicks.

Fort Worth took a 21-17 lead when Ashton hit his high school teammate, Kenny Bornstad, on a 31-yard TD pass with 31 seconds left in the third quarter.

The teams traded turnovers in the fourth quarter before Sutherland scored the winning TD.
