Kenyon Martin to be inducted into University of Cincinnati Hall of Fame
Kenyon Martin, a 1996 graduate of Bryan Adams High School, and 13-season NBA veteran will be inducted on Oct. 28 into the University of Cincinnati's James P. Kelly Sr. Athletics Hall of Fame.
In addition to Martin, the induction ceremony will also honor volleyball player Julie (Dupont) Fitzgerald, football’s Gino Guidugli, and cross country and track and field’s Ron Stapleton.
According to a release from the university Martin is one of three UC basketball players to have his jersey retired along with Oscar Robertson and Jack Twyman, both members of the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame.
Martin played center for the Bearcats from 1996 to 2000 and was a three-year starter.
His senior year in 1999-00, he averaged 18.9 points, 9.7 rebounds and 3.5 blocked shots and was a consensus first-team All-American and National Player of the Year on a Bearcats squad which held the No. 1 ranking in the country for 12 weeks. He also holds the university's career record for blocks with 292. He was the first selection in the 2000 NBA draft, and is currently with the New York Knicks.
