ALLEN — Senior Xavier Adams poured in 26 points in barely over three quarters of play to lead Flower Mound Marcus to a 74-37 win over John Paul II in a semifinal of the Raising Cane’s Chicken Bracket (5A-4A). Marcus advanced to Saturday’s 8 p.m. final against Frisco Heritage.

Adams was the only Marcus player to score in the first five minutes, accounting for his team’s first 10 points. He had 18 of Marcus’ 24 first-half points. Playing against the state’s third-ranked large private school, Marcus (13-1) built a 23-11 lead at the end of one.

Jaxon Holder was the only other Marcus player in double figures with 15 points. Adams made three 3-pointers and 13 of 15 free throws.

Gabe Fowler, Jordan Corbitt and Wesley Franklin combined for 52 points as Frisco Heritage beat Duncanville, 70-58, in the semifinal nightcap.

Duncanville will play John Paul II in the third-place game at 4:30 p.m. Saturday. Sunnyvale will face Van Alstyne at 6:15 p.m. in the final of the Dickey’s Barbeque Bracket (1A-3A).

Duncanville, Frisco Heritage win quarterfinals: The Duncanville defense packed the paint and forced shots from outside en route to a 56-46 win over Highland Park, the 10th-ranked 4A team in the state. Frisco Heritage, ranked 12th in the state in 4A, used a 9-2 run late in the third quarter to pull away from Richardson (5-7) for a 69-55 victory.

Rockwall wins without its star: Playing without leading scorer and Oklahoma State pledge Austin Grandstaff, Rockwall had little trouble beating Bishop Lynch, 48-33, in a consolation-bracket semifinal. Grandstaff was injured in the third quarter of the opening-round game Thursday afternoon, and has not played since. Rockwall will face Rowlett in the consolation final.
